Am i seeing things?

One of the evenings during April, I was coming in home rather late.  There were few clouds in the sky and between the clouds the stars were visible.  All of a sudden in the northern part of the sky I was aware of a green coloured haze.  My first thoughts were that there must be strange lights in the city this evening, but then I realised that is was something more spectacular than that – It was the Northern Lights.  The only camera I had was the one on my phone, but it wasn’t strong enough to capture the rare sitting.  This is only the 2nd or 3rd time in my life that I have saw this wonderful sight.  So I pulled in at the side of the road, got out of my car and enjoyed the sight for a few minutes before moving on.  I am sure those who drove past wondered what I was doing standing looking up into the northern sky.
During this month we celebrate the Ascension.  The Ascension is the account of Jesus going back to Heaven to continue His work of preparing a place for you and me.  In the Book of Acts chapter 1 we read the account of how The Ascension took place.  Jesus was talking with his disciples and giving them clear instructions of what they must do.  Luke (who wrote the Book of Acts as well as the Gospel of Luke) tells us that Jesus told them to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them, then they must take the Gospel not only to the people of Jerusalem, but also to those in Judea and Samaria, and then to the ends of the earth.  After he had finished saying this He was lifted before their eyes and ascended into heaven.  The disciples where standing there watching Him ascend when two men stood beside them and asked what they were looking at.  They then gave the disciples the promise “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
In 1st Thessalonians 4:16+17 we read, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”  As Paul reminds us in these two verses, Jesus will return and take his people to be with him forever.  However, only His people will be taken.  Those who are not followers of Jesus will be left behind and will not enter His Kingdom.  Are you ready for this event and are you a follower of Jesus?  If not, you can be by asking Jesus to forgive your sins and let Him take first place in your life.
